New CPR Compression Machine |
The Township would like to offer their sincere appreciation to University Hospitals and Dr. Todd Zeiger for the donation of a new Lucas II CPR Machine for the Fire Department. This cutting edge machine, demonstrated at the last trustee's meeting does the cpr compressions automatically, keeping them even and at the correct depth, even while transporting a patient up or down stairs. Dr. Zieger told the group the American Heart Association has recommended strongly that continuous and deep chest compressions are the most important thing to provide for survival of heart attack victims. He said this device was developed in Sweden about 9 years ago and there are probably only a handful of communities in the country right now fortunate enough to have one. University Hospitals donated a machine to both Granger and Sharon Fire Departments in the hopes of improving survivability of heart attach patients. Chief Hadam then told the trustees it would be a very good idea to purchase a machine for the second rescue squad. Trustees authorized the purchase of a Lucas II CPR Compression Machine at a cost of $12,972.00
