NEW FIRE DEPT. MEMBERS: James Kuruc was accepted as a probationary member of the Fire Dept. on July 11, 2011.

SUMMER ROAD WORK: The road work bid was awarded to Lytle Construction Co. out of Wooster for a total of $195,370.26. Roads to be done include Coddingville, Brennelle Lane, Granger Willows, Lowvell Drive, Olde Stone Drive, Hickory Creek, Mason's Rest and Willow View Drive.

DON'T FORGET YOUR ZONING PERMIT! Now that spring has finally arrived many projects are being considered. If you are contemplating additions, decks, garages, etc. a Zoning Permit must be obtained prior to construction. For information you may check the township web site under zoning or call the Zoning Inspector at 330/239-3611. You may also e-mail questions to zoning@grangertwp.org.

PORT-A-JOHN FOR BALLFIELDS: Trustees authorized a payment to Superior-Speedie Portable Services, inc. in Akron for $455.00 to provide a port-a-john for the ballfiellds from May 1st to October 31st.

NEW VETERAN'S HEADSTONES: Rita Feess, Sexton, announced the Veteran's Administration will be providing upright granite headstones for Seth Goodwin and Samuel McCloud, both Revolutionary War Veterans at Reid Hill Cemetery.

SALT/SNOW REMOVAL: This winter season (Nov. 1, 2010 - April 1, 2011) the township has used 1,306.41 tons of salt for a cost of $62,549.92 and spent $130,081.01 for snow plowing and salting services. It has been a very rough winter on our roads and expensive also. .

ZONING STAFF CHANGES : Zoning Inspector Nancy West has returned from a Leave of Absence as of May 1, 2011. Annie George will go back to being Zoning Secretary and has also been hired as Township Administrative Assistant. Trustees expressed their appreciate to Marie Yambor, who had been acting Interim Zoning Secretary.

ADDITIONAL FIRE DEPT. HOURS: Due to the success of having two Paramedics or Adv. EMT's on duty at the Fire Station weekdays from 8-4 Chief Hadam recommended and Trustees agreed to have two people also on duty on both Saturday and Sunday. This has cut response time considerably to hurt, ill, and injured people.. A Squad cannot leave the station legally on a call unless it is manned by at least two experienced personnel.

CABLE TV POSTING POLICY: Based on an opinion from the Medina Co. Prosecutor's Office with First Amendment Concerns The Trustees adopted a cable TV posting policy as follows: that Granger Township limit programming and announcements to local government notices or local government sponsored activities on the township cable TV station.

MINOR SUBDIVISION AND LOT SPLITS APPROVAL: Signatures approving minor subdivisions and lot splits will be valid for 60 days from the date of signing effective Jan. 1, 2003. Prior to that date there was no deadline to the signature approvals.

OLDER ADULTS INFORMATION: Lodi Hospital offers a Respite Care Program. For more information call 330/948-1222. The Office for Older Adults continues to offer free meals to home bound seniors - call 330/723-9514. A $3.00 lunch is available at the OOA center on Wednesday and Fridays for seniors.
